A menudo nos frustramos repitiendo hasta la saciedad lo que deben y no deben hacer nuestros hijos, pero tal vez deberíamos pararnos e intentar por un momento, pensar en cómo sienten ellos. Recuerda que escuchar y entender no es lo mismo, así que no se trata de insistir una y otra vez con las mismas palabras, no olvides que ellos, en su corta existencia todavía no han tenido tiempo de interiorizar sensaciones y aprendizajes que nosotros, los adultos, sí.
A lo largo de nuestra vida, aprendemos a través de situaciones vividas, experimentando los efectos positivos y negativos que éstas han producido en nosotros. Por esta misma razón, los niños necesitan experimentar en su propio ser las consecuencias y resultados de sus actuaciones. Necesitan su espacio para darse cuenta por ellos mismos cómo se sienten.
El ser humano piensa, hace y siente; los niños también, salvo que ellos, además, deben integrar lo que los mayores les decimos, aconsejamos e incluso imponemos, y eso no es fácil para nadie.
Hemos olvidado cómo nos sentíamos cuando éramos niños, cómo veíamos el mundo, cómo percibíamos nuestro entorno, y esa es la razón principal por la que nos cuesta tanto empatizar con ellos. No intentamos ver el mundo a través de su visión, sino de la nuestra, y nos cuesta aceptar que no entiendan algo que nosotros comprendemos a la perfección.
Los niños se encuentran inmersos en un mundo infinito lleno de fantasía, en el que a menudo se encuentran perdidos, confusos y desorientados, incapaces de transmitirnos cómo se sienten, porque ni tan si quiera ellos comprenden qué está sucediendo en su interior.
Al igual que los adultos, los niños necesitan recurrir a sus métodos para poder exprear sus emociones, desahogarse y relajarse. La cuestión es que la vida, todavía, no les ha mostrado los caminos más adecuados para hacerlo, por esa razón se guían solo por su instinto, liberando así esa carga de energía. Y aunque a veces no nos guste su forma de hacerlo, es necesario para su bienestar.
No sé trata de reprimir, sino de canalizar, y ahí es donde la práctica del yoga adquiere protagonismo, como una herramienta del crecimiento físico y emocional del niño.
El yoga potencia su autoestima y su seguridad, que junto con el cariño de sus seres queridos, tienen ya recorrido un gran camino hacia la felicidad.
Con la práctica de los ejercicios, los niños aprenden e interiorizar los distintos ritmos, aprendiendo que hay momentos para la acción y momentos para la calma. A través de estas dinámicas comenzamos a fomentar en ellos la paciencia, el respeto, la escucha, etc.
Las técnicas respiratorias que se trabajan en las clases, ayudarán al niño a entrar en estados de calma y a que mejore su calidad del sueño. Su capacidad pulmonar se ampliará poco a poco, beneficiándole en muchos aspectos de su vida.
Utilizamos técnicas de visualización que mejoran notablemente su capacidad de concentración, reflejándose satisfactoriamente en su rendimiento escolar.
Los beneficios físicos son innumerables, entre ellos destaco la prevención de enfermedades musculares, el aumento del equilibrio, de la flexibilidad, de la fuerza y de la agilidad.
Todas estas prácticas se realizan dentro de un marco lúdico, a través de cuentos, juegos, canciones, etc, de manera que los niños no sientan que se les están sumando más obligaciones adicionales a la escuela y las tareas de la casa. Pero sin olvidar que el yoga también va a ir introduciendo en su vida, pequeñas reglas, rutinas, responsabilidades, etc.
Actualmente existen cada vez más centros de yoga donde se ofrece la posibilidad de que los más pequeños puedan disfrutar de esta práctica. El yoga en los colegios ya está implantado en números países, comenzando a surgir poco a poco en los centros educativos españoles como una actividad extraescolar más.
