PODEMOS CONTRIBUIR A LA PAZ DESDE LA RESPONSABILIDAD EN LOS MEDIOS DE TRANSPORTE
Los humanos con gran creatividad hemos ideado, diseñado y construido extensiones de nuestros órganos de los sentidos, ahora podemos ver más allá del horizonte con telescopios, expandir nuestra visión en el oculto mundo microscópico o escuchar más allá de nuestros límites; así mismo desarrollamos extensiones de nuestro sistema natural de locomoción con los medios de transporte. Hoy disfrutamos de ello con desplazamientos muy rápidos y cómodos pero con graves consecuencias en la salud de todos los seres vivos dado el uso de combustibles fósiles o energías no renovables que utilizamos para dichos medios. Ésta mañana tomé el metro para ir al trabajo y desde allí pude ver conmovido las enormes filas de autos y camiones en la vía paralela y sobre ellos una gris nube de smog cubriendo la ciudad. En estas condiciones vivimos millones de personas, movilizándonos cada día sin ser muy conscientes de lo que implica para nuestro planeta el uso de algunas fuentes de energía en los medios que utilizamos para transportarnos.
Durante estos días hemos invitado a la reflexión y a la auto observación de nuestras actitudes y hábitos al transportarnos. La vida hoy nos pide aplicar nuestro nivel de conciencia en acciones más efectivas que puedan contribuir al bien mayor para todos; una de ellas es tan simple como elegir con responsabilidad que medio usamos para transportarnos. En un mundo lleno de tal desarrollo tecnológico parecería anacrónico proponer el regreso al desplazamiento a pié o en bicicleta, pero si esto se vuelve una decisión colectiva en cada pueblo, ciudad o país, sería una enorme y efectiva contribución a la paz y a la salud de nuestro planeta y a la de todos los seres que lo habitamos. Apoyemos iniciativas que se estén dando en el sentido de promover más ciclo vías, más senderos peatonales; o seamos pioneros al proponerlas sí aún nuestra comunidad no existen. En ese mismo sentido sólo falta la decisión política que podemos presionar como ciudadanos para pasar de la contaminante tecnología del petróleo al uso de vehículos movidos por electricidad o mejor aún por energía solar.
Si cumplimos responsablemente nuestra parte, los aportes individuales sumarán hasta formar un vórtice suficiente para construir ese mundo en paz que reclamamos.
