LA VIDA NO ES EL CUERPO
Me acuerdo de una chica a la que atendía en consulta hace muchos años. Tenía 15 años y un cáncer de tiroides de un tipo muy agresivo. Un día me llegó a consulta con su pelo rojizo largo precioso, unos ojos azules y una sonrisa. Caminaba como si estuviera bailando, venía feliz. Cuando entró a la consulta así y yo sabiendo lo que tenía, la miré y le dije “qué alegría verte así, qué bueno verte y sentirte así”. Ella me dijo: “lo mismo no piensa mi oncólogo”. Y entonces le dije: “¿Por qué? ¿Qué te dijo?”. Entonces me dice… “es que me fui a consulta con el oncólogo y me dice “niña yo la veo muy rara a usted. Aquí es muy importante que usted tenga aceptación de lo que tiene ¿usted sabe qué es lo que tiene?”. “Yo le dije claro doctor yo sé que tengo, claro” Y dice: “No, pero es que parece que usted no se ha dado cuenta que usted tiene un cáncer y que usted se va a morir” Y entonces le dice la niña: “¿y es que usted sabe cuándo usted se va a morir doctor?”.
¿Cómo les parece esa pregunta? ¿Cómo les parece esa sabiduría en una niña de 15 años? A mí me dejó atónita y sin palabras. Le dije “¿Cómo voy a rebatir a eso? y ¿Cómo va él a rebatir eso?”. Ninguno de nosotros sabe cuándo, todos estamos como en la sala de espera del avión: cuando estamos esperando el avión, entonces estamos ahí. Ninguno de nosotros sabe en qué momento le van a llamar para abordar. No lo sabemos y eso no depende de la edad. Yo he acompañado y he visto morir a gente de todas las edades: recién nacidos, pequeñitos, de todas las edades.
No sabemos cuándo nos va a tocar abordar y mucho menos sabemos cuando el avión va a despegar realmente.
Así que no depende de eso. Y yo les pregunto… ¿es que alguien va a salir de está vivo? ¿Alguien tiene el poder, el dinero, la inteligencia suficiente como para salir con todo su cuerpito, con todo lo que tiene, con todas las posesiones que tiene en esta vida?
Tutankamón lo intentó, hizo y mandó a hacer un montón de pirámides. Pidió que le hicieran cosas para que conservaran su cuerpo, se enterró con todas las posiciones y muchos más y no lo ha conseguido. Así que todos tenemos como la fecha de vencimiento de las latas de sardinas. Todos la tenemos y no la conocemos, porque ahí sí que viviríamos en pánico total o ya hubiéramos aprendido otra forma de vivir. Pero la realidad es que nosotros nacemos y dentro de toda la incertidumbre que hay en esta vida, el estar todos los días sin saber qué paso seguirá, qué podremos hacer mañana, cómo podremos estar mañana, esa es la realidad. Eso es lo que estamos viviendo.
Esa es la incertidumbre de la vida. Lo único cierto que tenemos es que nacemos y nos vamos a morir, es lo único realmente seguro que tenemos todos.
Si abrazamos lo único que podemos abrazar ahí, la vida, eso es lo que quedamos abrazando de verdad, porque la realidad es que la ley natural es la ley natural y la ley natural es simplemente que nos vamos a ir. La buena noticia es que nosotros nos vamos, y cuando nos vamos dejamos este vestido de carne y de huesos y simplemente nos vamos. Esta es una muy buena razón que les quiero dar para esa invitación de abrazar la vida a través de la muerte, y es que la vida no es el cuerpo.
La vida no es el cuerpo. Y es que el cuerpo es como ese estuche, como eso que nos guarda y que nos contiene. El nombre que le decimos al hecho de nacer, cuando nuestra madre nos trae aquí a este plano, dicen “da a luz” ¿Qué es dar a luz? Es traer nuestra luz, nuestra chispita de luz que somos, aquí a este plano, a este momento. Entonces, da a la luz y nuestra luz se hace presente aquí.
A mí me parece muy lindo poder agradecer y poder bendecir el tiempo que podamos compartir con otros, sea cortico, sea largo. A las personas y a las familias que he acompañado con niños que se han ido, les alivia mucho y les llena su corazón saber eso. Saber y sentir que los años que hayan vivido, que los años que hayan disfrutado con su pequeño pueden agradecerlos infinitamente. Y que si hubieran sabido desde antes que ese lapso iba a ser tan cortito, cuando yo les pregunto si hubieran preferido que hubiera sido otro, que su hijo hubiera sido otro, otra persona para que durara más porque él no iba a durar más, me decían… “No, yo lo quiero así, lo prefiero así y agradezco entonces enormemente y valoro enormemente el tiempo que ha vivido, 80 años, 90 años, 100 años, el tiempo que sea que podamos compartir con las personas que amamos, con las personas que queremos”.
Saber que el cuerpo no es lo que somos, saber que esa luz a la que dio a luz nuestra madre, esa lucecita y esa chispita de luz está aquí por el tiempo que se pueda y que cuando ya no le corresponda estar aquí irá y estará mirando simplemente hacia otro lado… Antes miraba hacia aquí esa chispita, y después naceremos a otro lado. Entonces es como volver a nacer, nacemos hacia aquí o nacemos hacia la gran luz de la que venimos. Simplemente eso, otro nacimiento, otro volver a nacer. Y esa luz que somos aquí y esa luz que puede estar aquí es una luz que a través de las personas que se quedan, de las personas que están, de las personas que nos aman y amamos y que están con nosotros, a través de ellos puede seguir brillando y esa es una cosa maravillosa.
